I have an amazing life. And I don’t deserve it.
Melissa and I have been on this adventure with God since 2007. We’ve experienced so much.
We’ve traveled the country, we’ve started successful companies, we’ve rehabbed a house in a broken inner-city neighborhood, we’ve been farmers, we’ve owned a restaurant, we’ve published books, and we’ve met and worked with the most amazing people. We’ve also added four of the best human beings to the planet.
Since moving to Zanesville, we’ve seen so many miracles first-hand in our community–lengthening of legs, restoration of hearing, deliverance from seizures, instantaneous release from addiction, financial miracles, healing of so many sicknesses and injuries, families restored, and so much more.
And God has a new adventure for us.
In the spring of 2018 we began to feel a call to full-time ministry. As that developed, the call became more specific—our mission is to raise up creative writers as full-time ministers in the church. We believe that God is calling Melissa and me to start a program which will prepare creative writers for full-time ministry and equip them with the skills and knowledge to advance the Kingdom of God.
We began to call this the “School of Kingdom Writers.” Over the past many months, this calling has been confirmed prophetically, and we have spent a lot of time in prayer developing the details. On September 1, I left my position as CEO of my company in order to pursue this mission full-time.
The School of Kingdom Writers is a 2-year full-time apprenticeship and discipleship program for individuals who are gifted and called to use creative writing as a vocational ministry. The program will accept 12 students per year, and train them in the art and craft of creative writing, provide publishing industry knowledge and professional development, and develop spiritual disciplines and ministry experience. This program will be ideal for aspiring Christian novelists, essayists, bloggers, and social media content creators.
We want to teach people to rely fully on God, to pray for and see miracles, and, with their hearts totally fixed on Jesus, to craft novels, essays, stories, and social media content that radiates the love of Christ.
We’ve plotted three years for the development of the curriculum, the property, and fundraising. Once it’s up and running, the school will be completely tuition funded.
This mission exists at the confluence of so many things that God has been developing in me over the past many years. I’m so excited to see what God will continue to cultivate in me personally over the next three years while we build this school.
I’m not perfect, nor am I done following hard after Jesus and drawing closer to Him. But I can, in God’s grace and humility, say that Jesus has built me into a writer with a tremendous amount of publishing experience and the heart of a teacher, who practices miracles and casts out demons in His glorious name, and who is passionate about Advancing the Kingdom of God at all costs. I am humbled and excited by the prospect of sharing these things and discipling others on their journey.

God is doing amazing things in our country and in our culture. We’re thrilled to play our part, and look forward to working hard to bring this mission to fruition.
