The Novel Matrix

Spoiler: There’s no secret code for writing a bestselling novel.

But there are fundamental principles of story structure that will make your novel work.

Once you understand these fundamentals, writing a novel transforms from a chaotic, enigmatic roller coaster into a succinct and sensible process.

Whether you’re a new writer or you’ve written several manuscripts, if you’re not yet achieving what you’d like to achieve with your writing—The Novel Matrix is for you. Hundreds of authors just like you have used this remarkable system to begin and improve their novel writing.

This book is the culmination of 15 years of experience as a developmental editor, and over a decade of experience teaching the art of novel writing.

The information contained in The Novel Matrix has already helped hundreds, if not thousands, of authors through The Company’s Arche Year classes, the Ohio Writers’ Association, and the Columbus Idea Foundry.

This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor with exclusive early access to the book, prizes and freebies, and private group sessions to go beyond the covers of the book.

The Novel Matrix by Brad Pauquette. Book Cover with golden wireframe brain.

Here’s how it works:

1. You pre-order the e-book from Amazon at the special release team price of $2.99. Once the team is in place, the e-book will go back to its regular release price of $8.99.

2. I send you an e-book now, and then also mail you a special pre-release print edition of The Novel Matrix, and some other cool stuff. (About a $25 value.)

3. You read the book and prepare an honest review to leave on Amazon on the day the book releases.

4. Between now and then we’ll play some games, have some fun, and you’ll be invited to private Zoom sessions to talk about novel writing.  I have a few things in mind, and there’ll definitely be some cool swag involved. 🙂

5. On release day, you’ll get your Kindle book from Amazon. Together we’ll share this knowledge with the world!

What are people saying about The Novel Matrix?

“The Novel Matrix has become a lens through which I see books, movies, and even everyday life. Brad gave me a memorable set of rules and principles that now live in my conscious awareness and empower me as a storyteller. I’ve even begun to explain the novel matrix to my 12 year old daughter, who is catching it just as easily as I did. I’m afraid I’ve equipped her to surpass my writing early in her career!”
– Kyle Peters, author of Every Bush Afire

“Storytelling made simple! The Novel Matrix revolutionized the way I write.”
Thirzah, author of The Librarian’s Ruse

“I’ve learned many things about crafting novels from many different platforms. This book provides many techniques and strategies that I couldn’t find on any of those other platforms. It eased the process of plotting and drafting so now it’s not nearly as difficult as it was before.”
– Rebekah Olson, Developmental Editor

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get?

OK, it boils down to this. You pay $2.99 to pre-order the book from Amazon, and then you get the e-book, a print book, and some cool freebies. All together, you pay $2.99 and you’re going to get about $25 worth of stuff.

It’s important that you pay the $2.99 so that your review will show up as an “Amazon Verified Purchase.” Or else I’d just give it all to you for free.

*You do need to be in the United States to receive the stuff in the mail. If you’re outside of the USA, I’d still love for you to participate, but I just won’t be able to mail you anything.

What kind of swag are we talking about?

I’m still working out all of the details. But I’m going to be sending out free books from authors who have used the Novel Matrix method. You can also count on some t-shirts and other goodies from The Company Store, and we’re working on some custom laptop stickers and other exclusive merch.

What if I don’t read e-books? Why would I pre-order one?

For our purposes here, it doesn’t really matter if you don’t read e-books. When you join the team, you’re going to get an e-book copy AND a print edition. If you don’t want the e-book, you can give it away to someone else.

Whether you actually read the e-book or the print edition, you can still leave a review. Because you ordered it off of Amazon, your review will show up as an “Amazon Verified Purchase” even if you actually just read the print version you received from me.

What if I don’t like the book?

That’s OK, tell people that. Seriously. No book is for everyone, and I want the right people to connect with this information so that they can benefit from it. When I say I want an honest review, I mean it! You’re still welcome to be part of the team.

What if I can’t leave a review on release day?

Cicumstances happen. It’s best if you can leave a review on July 10. That helps the book to reach more people. But I understand that stuff comes up. If you can’t leave a review on July 10, please definitely leave a review by July 15.

A good batch of honest reviews is really important to me and really helpful for the book. When you join the team, it’s important that you do leave a review.

Do I have to come to anything else or do anything else?

When you sign up, you’re agreeing to definitely leave a review on Amazon on (or near) release day.

Everything else is optional. If you don’t want to do anything else, that’s fine. But I think it’ll be fun.

What happens if I sign up but then just don’t do it?

Well, your mother and I will be very disappointed in you.

But that’s about it.

When you fill out the box on this page, it’s not a contract or anything. I’m just going to send you an email with more instructions. You can still decide it’s not for you at that point.

When you tell me that you pre-ordered the book, I’m going to spend some money to send you a bunch of stuff. At that point, it would be pretty uncool of you to not hold up your end of the deal. But, honestly, if you don’t do it, nothing’s going to happen.

I don’t know how you’ll sleep at night. But nothing will happen. 😉
